1st Electric Guitar

After owning several acoustic guitars over the years, and playing a handfull of others, I finally broke down and purchased my first electric guitar (at the age of 54 - hopefully this old dog can learn a few new tricks). Which guitar you might ask ??? A Gibson (Les Paul).... Fender (Strat or Tele).... a Rickenbacher.... heck no !!! (actually I consider myself not worthy of those guitars, since I really haven't played much in the last 20 years)... I have purchased the re-issue retro Danelectro Dano Pro (see link below - mine's the black one with off-white trim in the upper right corner).... haven't got my amp and accessories yet (they're all picked out, just waiting to get the cash together)... playing on a borrowed amp, and I've discovered a few things.... my fingers don't reach some chords I used to easily reach.... this has led me to a strict dietary regimen of Chondroitin & Glucosamine - hoping these supplements will give some elasticity to these stiff and thick fingers. Signed up for some on-line lessons, since it appears my memory is a little fuzzy as well and it seems I've forgotten more than I used to know.... maybe I should take some Gingko as well......... oh well, I'm interested to see where this will take me.........Derri/Mark.... I'm ready to jam anytime.... : ) (just kidding)....

Hi folks, long time since I have hit the message board and as usual I am looking for help.

On the 26th of December I am talking my second trip stateside to a friends wedding how is marrying a good-old American lass. So I will be in full highland dress etc at about -5 degrees - The song "I who have nothing" springs to mind...!

We are taking a holiday on the back of it so was wondering what there is to do in Kansas over the festive period and also things we should go and see...?

If The Choir, The 77s and The Lost Dogs were touring it would be great and all my Christmases would have come at once. Realistically, however if anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate any suggestions.

I'm digging the Vikings this year, and Arizona has always been my backup team. I heard that yesterday, Kurt Warner reached 30,000 yards of completions, tying Dan Marino for the QB to reach that milestone in the fewest seasons.

Hello people!!! Just wanted to give and update on all things musical in my life. I had the pleasure of mixing 10 songs on the new Hammock cd. A great band. If you haven't heard there beautiful music you should do so asap. I'm also putting t...he finishing touches on my ambient guitar project. It's called "The Lost Weekend". It will be out in November. I hope you put it on your Christmas list.

Also Steve and I are diving back into The Choir cd today. The songs are sounding great. Steve is writing some great lyrics. (no surprise there) We hope to have it finished by the first of the year or possibly before Christmas. ( sure we will ) I'll keep you posted. I'll also give Dan Michaels some video he can post on our Choir.net site next week.

Just got an email from the band Slide today (2 of the members use to be in Sincerely Paul). After I have been patiently waiting, finally got their song January today. It is free download for 30 days. Its a great track too.. and they had a remix done to it...the remixes are very techno-ish while the free download has more of a band sound to it. I'm very interested to see what will be coming from these guys in the next year. The release date for the album says 2010. Their website looks incredible-polished professional looking. Livgren Suffers Stroke

I am so sorry to have to bring you this news, but Kerry needs your prayers RIGHT NOW. I wish I could get through to someone for more details or an update, but Im letting you all know what I know so you can let everyone you know who is a friend or fan of Kerrys to start praying.

Last night at around 4 am, Kerry had a stroke. Vicci found him on the bathroom floor and got him to the hospital. As of about half an hour ago, he was in surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain. My dad told me he was conscious at at least one point and recognized people, but could not speak. Im sorry I dont have more details, but Ill let you all know when I do. Please dont try and contact Kerry or Vicci right no, for obvious reasons, but PRAY!!!!!!! Ill try to communicate as much as I can.

Everyday our lives hang in the balance....Gina and I are currently in Washington, DC and awoke to a phone call...the kind you hate to receive. Please pray for our friend Kerry Livgren...as I write this he is on the operating table in Topeka. He retired to bed last night around 11:30pm...Vicci awoke at 4:30 am to find Kerry unconcious on the floor and called 911. Kerry apparently has sufferred a stroke. Doctors are currently operating to remove a blood cot in the brain. He has opened his eyes and appears to recognize individuals, but was unable to speak. I share this with you now, as I know, like Kerry, you believe in God's ability and power. Please take a moment to pray for our friend, the older brother I never had...

Vicci is doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances. The Livgren clan and church family are gathering in support.
