Indie Hindie on Terry Tour.  Entry and photos from Steve Hindalong
We ate at a Waffle house 175 miles south of St. Louis (first meal of the tour) en route from Music City to Cornerstone. Afterwards in the parking lot, I took the opportunity to demonstrate for Andrew Taylor (Terry's son, playing bass) my skill at catching a quarter behind my back. (I'm 80 percent proficient after years of practice.) Well... It was a high, errant toss. The sun was in my eyes. I stumbled on a parking space curb and went down hard. Clammering quickly to my feet I retrieved the quarter, brushed asphalt granules from my elbow abrasion and walked off the ankle twist - laughing all the while with any onlookers at my folly. There's no use trying to impress these kids nowadays!  Nevertheless, after a month on the road together, young Andrew will have watched me catch that quarter behind my back maybe 100 times. Hopefully, that'll serve as a worthy lesson... About perseverance and so forth.

So once I got on the lawn, I was able to snap this unobstucted photo.
And you won't believe what happened next! I heard an urgent whisper from behind a hedge. "Pssst. Hey Dude, can I bum a square?" It was Obama himself, crouching low. "Mr. President,"I responded, "What's a square?" "You know," he insisted agitatedly, "a tobaki stick, a fag, a smoke, a ciggy! Michelle flushed my last pack and I'm shakin' man! I gotta hit a grit!!"
(Okay, I need to load in at this house gig in North Carolina. Story to be continued.)

So anyway... I was dumb-stricken by the surprise encounter with the Commander in Chief, formulating a paragraph in mind about how I don't dare smoke since I have asthma, but my fellow band mates, Terry and Andrew, just outside the gate, might could spare a lung dart or  two if I could somehow negotiate the transaction... But just then a speedy Security brute blind-sided me and drove me face first into the turf. Ah, the burn!  He had his knee on my back, but before he could cuff me, the leader of the free world came out from hiding and dashed for the White House door! Luckily, the secret service ruffian let go of me to dutifully pursue Mr. Obama and then I made my getaway, flyin' over that fence like it was nothin'! Man, I'm agile as a Saskatoon Lynx when I need to be!  Terry and Andrew were sitting on the curb sucking on a coupla tar bombs. "Where've YOU been?" asked Terry. "I'll tell ya about it later," I said. "But check out this awesome picture I just took on my new iPhone. Looks like a post card!"

Steve in Ft. Walton Beach, FL road update - High score - 168

We bowled in Ft Walton Beach Fla. Sure, I got the high score... But Andrew's 156 was respectable. Terry's scores were unremarkable yet he showed impressive form! The concert was wonderful and the folks were gracious.
