Ack, sorry I didn't see this message sooner - I haven't been checking the forum very regularly. I, too, saw U2 in Atlanta this time around, with General Admission tickets. Hopefully your day went well.
My friend and I arrived to line up at about 9:30 AM, and there were already about 300 people in front of us even though the line wasn't supposed to start until 10 AM. Still, we ended up in the inner circle, front and center, probably 10 feet from the stage. I wouldn't have minded being a bit farther back given the height and size of the stage, but you really can't complain when you're that close to the band.
I really liked Muse, but wasn't blown away by the U2 show. It just seemed to be LACKING, and was probably the 6th or 7th best out of 8 shows that I've seen from the band. I wasn't crazy about the setlist (and I'm not crazy about the new material), the emotion really didn't seem to be there, and the show just never really seemed to "take flight" like they usually have in the past. So it ended up being "a good show from my favorite band," but not the sort of life-changing event that I've come to expect from them (however unfairly).

We were in the inner circle, all the way back. People kept coming in and out to get beer, pressing in us, then more people came trying to find space, again pressing against us; by the time U2 came out my wife was having a panic attack from the crowd and the drunken hicks in front of us who were yelling, cussing, and about to start a fist-fight. We moved back outside the circle and enjoyed the show as such, but the experience was ruined by that point. __________________ Radio Eclectic Presents Dw. Dunphy

I've never experienced anything like that at U2 shows, where the people on the floor have generally been pretty cool (except for the guys in front of me this time that kept holding their crappy cameras over their heads and blocking my view to shoot video; half the time, they were shooting the freakin' video screen and not the stage!). Down front, the crowd wasn't moving around very much and was very loosely packed.
I've heard that the back of the inner circle is a good place to be - not too far from the stage but far enough back to get a good view, close to the catwalk, etc. Too bad there were idiots in the area, though.

Reply with quote | #8 | For once, I will not have a dig at Bonohead (oops) and the boys, but a wonderful story concerning them.
Friends of Caz (my wife) went to Dublin for the weekend for a Hen party.
On arriving they asked taxi driver the best place to go for a drink before going out dancing...
The taxi driver suggested a hotel called The Point apparently owned by Bono.
They went to said hotel and plonked themselves down for a few drinks.
After a period of time the barman asked them if they would be willing to move to another area as the owner (Mr Bono) was arriving and where they were sitting was his favorite table - a little quieter...
They we happy to move and sure enough Mr Bono an friends arrived for a drink.
After a short time the girls plucked up the courage to ask Mr Bono for a photo and handed the camera to one of the assembled gathering their camera.
Later as they were heading out they went up to the bar to settle their bill.
The barman responded, saying the bill had been taken care of.
The girls were more than happy and asked the barman to thank Mr Bono.
Much to the girls surprise the barman informed them that Mr Bono had not settled there bill.
The girls were somewhat confused, but were willing to accept the kind offer.
The barman then informed them that the gentleman that had taken their photo had kindly paid for them and that he would inform Mr Springsteen that they were very grateful...!

Reply with quote | #9 | Redone, I'm not really sure what was NOT "impressive" about No Line. It ruled. __________________ "Masquerading as a man with a reason, my charade is the event of the season...if I claimed to be a wise man, it means I don't really know." Kerry Livgren |

That's a cool story Mark... as for my two cents on No Line On The Horizon, I actually listened to it for the first time this week. I've given it numerous spins but find it very average. Bring back the post punk U2! __________________ Your favorite alternative Christian bands from the '80s to the present... check out

Reply with quote | #11 | No offense Wayward. I just did not care as much for the album as I did their previous one. U2 is still one of my favorite bands and will always follow them. I have many friends who love their latest release. I will keep on listening to it more. Do you have a favorite song on the CD? |
